Description

Simply Weatheris an app for Android devices that gives you just the forecast, in detail. I created this app in response to all the apps with flashy graphics that tell you almost nothing about the day's weather. This app will tell you the forecast for your location, based on the forecast from the US National Weather Service. It includes highs, lows and winds as well as chance and amount of precipitation. It also tells you when the precipitation is likely to occur. It's quick and easy. I think you'll like it. You can find it at the Android Market App Store or at the Amazon App Store.

Coverage

Currently the forecasts are for the United States, with the exception of Alaska. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are also supported. Future coverage: Support for other countries depends on the availability of forecasts in a format that I can work with. Please comment with any location you would like to see supported.

Feedback

I welcome your feedback and bug reports. Please send your comments to simplyweather@joncaplan.net. If you are sharing a bug report, please let me know the model of your Android device and the version of Android you are running, if you know it. A text 2 35 5 0.

Version 1.1: Added highlighting to forecast periods (e.g 'Overnight' or 'Tuesday') to improve readability. Included time of last forecast update so users know if their forecast is current. Improved parsing of user location. Version 1.2: Added support for multiple locations. Automatically updates forecasts over 30 minutes old. Added support for Alaska. (Alaska forecasts are not currently available. Alaskans, please watch for a future update.) Version 1.3: Added current conditions, including temperature, wind speed, wind direction and relative humidity. Also added small icons showing the weather at each point in time. Version 1.3.1: Bug fix. Don't display current weather conditions when they are not available. Also makes error handling more robust and friendly. Version 1.3.5: Added Temperature and winds table which can be revealed with a horizontal swipe. Added severe weather warnings. (In beta. Absence of warning does not mean absence of hazard!) Version 1.3.7 Bug fixes. Added reporting of errors to developer. Improved spacing in layout of forecasts.

Version 1.5 Simply Weather is now open source! I have licensed it under the GPL license, version 2. You may download the source at: github.com/joncaplan/simplyweather . Several bug fixes are also included in this version.
